This SoClution from DataTech S.D.A. [1] (pair of SoClutions) provides a mechanism to easily imple- ment a secure, tolerant and reliable USB extender on a chip (pair of).

USB-HID-DEV-EXT with USB-HID-HOST-EXT can connect a USB Human Interface Device to a USB host via a serial communications channel, that can allowing the possibility that both devices are a long distance. therefore, the union of these two components form an USB extension. The most important characteristics of the serial channel is to provide a robust and secure channel between host and device. USB-HID-DEV-EXT is the device side of the USB extension. The computer’s oper- ating system only needs the driver of the device connected to the host side. An UART interface connects to USB-HID-HOST-EXT by an external driver like RS232, RS485, etc. Different configura- tions of the serial interface can be selected via pins or a dedicated port.
